We support and grow Oceania’s* Open Source Geospatial and OpenStreetMap communities. Here’s how we do it.
FOSS4G SotM Oceania
FOSS4G SotM Oceania is the regional conference series of the ‘Free Open Source For Geospatial’ and ‘State of the Map’ conferences centred on the Oceania community. It’s an inspiring and innovative event with a warm community feel. It includes conference sessions, workshop days, and a community day for mapathons.
In 2018 it was held in Melbourne, Aus and Wellington, NZ in 2019. In 2020 it was run online and in regional Hubs across Oceania. It will be a similar model in 2021. Conference Page.
OSGeo Oceania funds community events with Microgrants (think pizza and venue hire money), helps community members attend the FOSS4G SotM Oceania conference with Travel Grants, and enables other special events with the ‘Good Mojo’ fund. If you’re interested in any of these opportunities or want to sponsor or donate Read more.

We include the countries listed in the United Nations Geoscheme for Oceania as well as the Philippines, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. We recognise the important cultural and social connections with countries in the broader region, so our community includes them. The more the merrier!
We have a wiki page detailing the OSGeo Oceania organisation including documents and policies, Board of Directors, Committees and working groups, membership, events and history of the organisation. Check it out for the nitty gritty details.
