We have community funds you can apply for. Yes, you.
This program is aimed at providing small grants to support local initiatives. For example, paying for pizza at a meetup. Maximum grant per activity is AUD $250. The grant process is designed to be relatively quick and easy. Guidelines.
Our Travel Grant Program is used to help members of the community attend the FOSS4G SotM Oceania conference. We are well aware that travel costs within Oceania can be prohibitive, we aim to help active members of the community attend in person.
This fund is based on donations from individual and sponsors and aims to promote diversity and inclusion, by giving assistance to people from unrepresented parts of the community, enabling attendance to conferences and events and generally helping any activity that promote diversity and inclusion. Good Mojo funds are generally bigger than Microgrant funds.
Let’s build our community one event at a time.
First meeting of Kiribati Women in Mapping
Microgrant funding was used to pay for catering and venue hire at the first Kiribati Women in Mapping stakeholder meeting, organised by the group founder Ueakeia Matin Tofinga. The event was a huge success thanks to Ueakeia’s efforts and OSGeo Oceania was credited and mentioned during the event…and also in the Kiribati TV News!
Valenicina settlement community training
Microgrant funding covered catering and venue costs during the Household Surveying and Fire Warden training in the Valencina settlement, organised by Mosese Sereivalu. This support enabled the community to be the first in the Lami Area to have the Fire Warden training.
