Timor-Leste

G-SIG Timor-Leste is a volunteer association in Timor-Leste focused on Geological Research, GIS software training & OpenStreetmap activities.
Their project initiative, supported by OSGeo Oceania, is to strengthen the OpenStreetMap community in Timor-Leste through data quality and validation using OSM and QGIS.
During training conducted in Timor-Leste, the G-SIG Association observed a strong interest in these platforms among young people and students, so the initiative to promote Open-Source Software for Geospatial in Timor-Leste will continue. The G-SIG Association is currently developing a plan to establish an Open-Source Software for Geospatial Center in Timor-Leste, focusing on training in QGIS software, OSM, and other open-source platforms, both Android and desktop-based. The primary goal of this center is to facilitate access to these tools for young people, students, and relevant institutions and agencies interested in mapping activities using open-source platforms.
